MARGARET ALPEN

Born and raised on the West Coast in Vancouver, B.C., where I spent time in art classes at the Vancouver School of Art, and private lessons before moving to Victoria. Fifteen years ago, I moved to Pender Island.

Over the years I have studied Batik, Silkscreen, Commercial Design, Painting in all mediums, Pottery and Printmaking.

In Victoria, I studied Drawing, Painting, & Life Drawing for a year with Bill Porteus, then attended the Victoria College of Art, which I graduated from in 1997.

Theatre also became a part of my experience, where I designed and painted stage sets.

My art work has been shown at the Sooke Fine Arts show, the Sidney Fine Art show, Victoria Community Arts Council "Look" shows and Victoria College of Art Alumni shows and the Pender Island Art society shows. I have sold many favourite pieces to private collectors. For a few years I did a lot of commissioned Pet Portraits.

I have also hung work at the Talisman Book Store and Slow Coast Coffee. I was a member of the Red Tree Gallery and am now a member of the Pender Island Arts Society.
